Chawan – or tea bowl is a bowl used for preparing and drinking tea. Clay body – fine white high-temperature stoneware from Germany. Glaze – titanium white with cobalt and chromium oxide, fired to 1280˚C.

Description

Chawan (茶碗; literally “tea bowl”) is a bowl used for preparing and drinking tea. This one-of-a-kind ceramic art piece is designed that of a Wan-Nari or wooden bowl-shaped. Created in Prague and is made from a fine white stoneware from Germany. Thrown on an electric wheel and then meticulously trimmed by the artist’s hand. High fired in an electric kiln to 1280 ºC. with a titanium glaze with brush splashes of deep cobalt blues and dark olive greens, inside glaze is a clear lite wheat with an angel spirit scribed on the inside lip.
