Chawan

A Chawan (茶碗; tea bowl) is a bowl used for preparing and drinking green tea. Each was created in Japan and is a one-of-a-kind piece of ceramic art that is fired with gold, silver, and platinum lusters. They were meticulously hand-crafted from various mixtures of porcelain from Kyoto or Kyushu together with Jo-Shigaraki or Toku Jo-Shigaraki stoneware. The glaze firing temperatures range from 1280 ˚C. to 1330 ˚C. in a gas kiln.
